Reasons for the Magnetic Permeability of the Austenitic Stainless Steel (type 300)

With respect to the austenitic stainless steel (type 300), when a physical force outside the A1 transformation point is applied, plastic deformation occurs;thus, the structure of austenite partially changes to that of martensite.

The austenite structure has no magnetic permeability, but the martensitestructuredoes have.

Therefore, machining processes naturally entailthe magnetic permeability of the austenitic stainless steel (type 300). The magnetic permeability is proportional to the degrees of machining processes;
thatis, there is no change in chemical composition. Thus, it is a natural phenomenon resulting from the change of metal structure.

The increased strength of the part that has plastic deformation can prevent adsorption when the nuts are unscrewed.

The reason behind the fact that stainless steel is not easily corroded is that the element Cr of the metal surface reacts to oxygen in the air and forms a Cr oxide film, thus preventing any corrosion. The magnetic permeability has nothing to do with corrosion.
